Vince McMahon made headlines in June after he secretly paid $3 million as a settlement to a departing employee. Because of this, McMahon was under investigation, and he had to retire. The former chairman and CEO of WWE was formally dropped off the organization’s internal talent list earlier this week.
According to a recent report from PW Insider, McMahon was categorized internally as a talent. His name was alongside other wrestlers who weren’t affiliated with a specific brand but would occasionally perform and were under contract with WWE. Others include John Cena or WWE Hall of Famers The Bella Twins.
However this week, Vince’s name taken off of the list. As of this writing, the Vince McMahon Twitter account is still operational. The Mr. McMahon persona still has a page on the WWE website.
Vince’s Twitter bio still reads, “Vince McMahon, Chairman & CEO of WWE, Inc., is a third generation promoter who has made WWE into the global phenomenon it is today.” despite the fact that he retired late last month.
WWE is known to erase those from the company who could potentially harm their reputation, and now Vince McMahon himself might be on that list. McMahon was also not mentioned during SummerSlam whatsoever. This is the start of a new era in WWE, one where they apparently don’t mention the man who got the company to this point.
