WWE changed a lot over the past few weeks. Vince McMahon is no longer in control, and many changes are expected. Katana Chance, formerly known as Kacy Catanzaro, entered WWE from American Ninja Warrior fame, but she has spent years training at the Performance Center. She started teaming up with Kayden Carter, and the pair were showing signs of a heel turn in recent memory. That changed in a big way this week.
WWE held a fatal four-way tag team elimination match to determine the new NXT Women’s Tag Team Champion on the August 2nd edition of NXT 2.0. In the end, Katana Chance and Kayden Carter became the new NXT Women’s Tag Team Champions.
The team also cut a promo that seemed different from their characters afterwards. While speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer and Bryan Alvarez noted that WWE is finally casting Katana Chance and Kayden Carter as babyfaces and not heels. They are not alone, because other “miscast” talent are now being corrected.
Katana Chance and Kayden Carter did a totally heel promo. They then did a promo later that was a total babyface promo, they have changed. A lot of people who were miscast, let’s face it – Kacy Catanzaro – she should not be cast as a heel, she is a babyface. They were getting ready to miscast her and now they’re casting her where she should be, just like Becky Lynch.
We will have to wait and see how Katana Chance and Kayden Carter will be booked as the NXT Women’s Tag Team Champions in the coming weeks. Fans are just happy they are finally getting their chance to shine. For that matter, the entire WWE landscape is certain to see a tweaking.
