Liv Morgan made a huge impact at the recent WWE Money in the Bank premium live event. Not only did she win the coveted briefcase, but she cashed in on Ronda Rousey to become the SmackDown women’s champion. Liv even defeated Ronda in a rematch at SummerSlam. That wasn’t always the plan.
Before Liv Morgan moved to SmackDown, there were plans to involve her in a storyline with The Judgment Day. That was teased during her brief affiliation with AJ Styles and Finn Balor before the latter turned on Edge. Morgan was to serve as the female foil to Rhea Ripley.
Ultimately, plans changed and Liv was moved to SmackDown to become the blue brand’s champion. On today’s Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer talked about the plan briefly. Now that Liv Morgan is working on Fridays, WWE will have to find another woman to counter Ripley’s reign of terror.
“Originally, that was the Liv Morgan spot, but she’s on a different show now. But yeah, in theory, there should be a woman to take out Rhea Ripley and I’m figuring Rey Mysterio ends there in some form or fashion.
I mean, it’s been teased and they kind of brought up – Rey did a promo, you know, saying how we’re former champions and we have like a bond, so it felt like, you know, that Edge and Rey are going to be put together and where Dominik fits in, I guess we’ll find out.”
It remains to be seen who gets recruited to stand up to Rhea Ripley and The Judgment Day. Liv Morgan wound up as a champion and has bigger fish to fry. Time will tell who will step up to battle with Ripley going forward.
