Tommaso Ciampa was one of the highlights of NXT throughout his run in the developmental brand. He was part of solid feuds, especially with the likes of Johnny Gargano. Ciampa also wanted to make NXT equivalent to the main roster.

Ciampa won the NXT Championship and was seen as one of the last remaining veterans of the brand. He also competed on NXT 2.0 where he became champion once again, but was eventually called up to the main roster back in May.

While speaking with Inside The Ropes, Tommaso Ciampa stated that he really wanted NXT to be equivalent to Monday Night RAW and Friday Night SmackDown.

“It’s all timing [on moving to the main roster]. I think for me, one, I really wanted to build the NXT brand and turn it into something that was equivalent to Raw and SmackDown. I wanted that bad, a lot of us wanted that bad, and I think we were headed that way, and then the pandemic happened. A lot of stuff’s changed. It was very much clear that NXT was backtracking to developmental for a lot of good reasons, I understand them.”

Tommaso Ciampa was in The Miz’s corner for his match against Logan Paul at WWE SummerSlam. It is likely he will continue to be The Miz’s partner for the time being. That being said, Triple H taking control of the company’s booking might be a huge lucky break for the Sicilian Psychopath.
