Bryan Danielson sustained an injury at Double or Nothing and just returned at Wednesday’s Dynamite. Danielson was in terror of his doctor advising him to stop competing in ring action after suffering from concussions and other illnesses for years.
During an episode of The Sessions at Starrcast V, Danielson shared his instant anxiety of his most recent injury while speaking with Renee Paquette. He claimed that his doctor was adamant on talking to him about his long-term health after he healed from his injury.
“It’s interesting, this last one, ‘After you start feeling better, we’re going to have to have a serious talk about your long-term health.’ I thought what that meant was, ‘After you feel better, I’m going to talk to you about not wrestling anymore.’ Then my brain scans came back so goddamn good that not a single person could say anything about it. I do put a lot of work and effort into keeping my brain healthy and doing things outside of normal stuff to keep my brain healthy. I think that’s paying dividends a little bit,”
Danielson also discussed the methods he uses to maintain the health of his brain. He can obtain hyperbaric oxygen therapy because of improved healthcare. Something which is a procedure that the FDA has not yet given its approval.
“The developments in medicine and science are so much better. There is a lot of like hyperbaric oxygen therapy. For those that do care, it’s being placed in a tube where it’s 1.5 atmospheres of pressure, a lot of oxygen being flooded into your brain. A lot of the military is doing it for people who have had concussions. It’s not FDA approved yet. That stuff is a long process. I did that, 100 sessions of that, where I’m in there for an hour and a half each time.”
Bryan Danielson is known for his tenure with indie promotions, WWE, and NJPW. After being forced to retire from 2016 to 2018 due to concussions, he overcame adversity. His return on Dynamite shows his resiliency and a never say die mentality. Danielson has avoided long-term injuries for some time because to his enhanced wrestling knowledge. Fans and Ringside News will undoubtedly be angered by yet another early retirement.
