Jonathan Gresham and AEW President Tony Khan found themselves in a conflict before ROH Death Before Dishonor. Gresham dropped his title to Claudio Castagnoli afterward, and now he wants his release.
Gresham’s ongoing departure was given an update by Mike Johnson of PW Insider. Gresham won’t be appearing in any form with AEW/ROH until he can reconcile with Tony Khan. A source told Johnson that the vibe backstage is “ugly and unprofessional” following Gresham and Tony Khan’s conflict.
Mike Johnson also gave additional details of what allegedly happen. Two very different stories are being presented, but both stories include Gresham feeling disparaged by Tony Khan.
“One version of the story making the rounds is that Gresham ‘cursed out’ Khan. Another story talents are sharing includes that Gresham used his ranking in the Pro Wrestling Illustrated magazine PWI 500 list as an argument as to why he should be presented better.”
Jonathan Gresham was the former ROH World Champion and the ROH Pure Champion. Him nor AEW haven’t commented on the conflict yet. Ever since Tony Khan brought ROH in March, a plethora of ROH wrestlers merged with AEW wrestlers. Gresham’s ongoing conflict with Tony Khan isn’t 100% verified when it comes to the ultimate reason. We hope the two gentlemen can make amends and Gresham will return to AEW.
