WWE’s Monday Night RAW has been shown on the USA Network as a three-hour show since July 23, 2012. However, WWE fans frequently criticize the Red Brand’s addition of a third hour because the show struggles to find ways to fill all three hours each week with interesting material. Triple H has also openly spoken out against RAW’s third hour in the past.
Triple H did an interview with Steve Austin in 2015 that resurfaced on social media this week. He also thinks that the third hour of television is exponentially harder to writer. Triple H shared that if he could, he would definitely roll back RAW to a two-hour program.
If I could change anything, I’d love it to be two hours. Third hour of television is so exponentially harder to write. I can’t even begin to describe it to you. It just is really difficult.
Austin retorted by questioning if the show could ever return to two hours, to which Triple H stated that McMahon would have to make the final choice. WWE’s broadcast rights agreement with NBCUniversal is one of the many multibillion-dollar partnerships that have helped it achieve record-breaking revenues in recent years, as defenders of its product have frequently pointed out.
Triple H was recently announced as the new WWE Head of Creative earlier this week following Vince McMahon’s sudden departure from the company. The first RAW under Triple H’s direction was taped this week at Madison Square Garden, but most of the episode had already been planned by McMahon the week before he announced his departure. Let’s see how things take course in the coming weeks.
