Paige had to retire after she was kicked from the back by Sasha Banks during a 2017 WWE MSG Show. She kept herself busy with a variety of roles after that for the next few years as well. She was also mentioned during this week’s NXT 2.0.
Paige announced that she would be parting ways with WWE this month. This is because WWE chose not to re-sign her. Paige penned an emotional letter to WWE on the last day of her contract, and now she is free to work in any company she wants to.
As seen during this week’s NXT 2.0, Mandy Rose pointed out that she was about to pass a new NXT Women’s Championship milestone and become the fourth longest reigning Women’s Champion in history. She then name-dropped Paige as well.
“Tomorrow, I become the fourth longest-reigning Women’s Champion in NXT history. Goodbye Bayley, goodbye Charlotte, Rhea Ripley and Raquel Rodriguez. And tomorrow, thank you Paige, but toodaloo to you too, honey.”
WWE recognises Paige’s reign with the gold as 273 days long. On July 27th, Rose will have become the third longest-reining NXT Women’s Champion as well. We’ll have to see how long her reign will truly last.
