Joey Janela was AEW’s resident Bad Boy and he took that role very seriously. Since turning heel, Janela showed a more relaxed and natural side of his character. He also defended Tony Khan recently.

As previously reported, Jonathan Gresham asked for his release from ROH/AEW and even cussed out AEW President Tony Khan prior to ROH Death Before Dishonor.

It was further reported that there were communication gaps between Gresham and Khan, as Gresham barely got to talk to Khan before the match. Joey Janela recently took to Twitter and shot down a rumor that Tony Khan ghosted talent and only spoke to ex-WWE talent in AEW.

It’s really not Tony’s job it’s talent relations, I’m sure if I texted Tony I would’ve got a text back or a phone call but I wasn’t really trying to push a new deal with other negotiations in place. Communication could definitely be better never said tony was a “ghost”

Joey Janela no longer works in AEW and is happy working in GCW, among other places. Regardless, he still has respect for Tony Khan and perhaps fans might see him back in AEW one day.
