Vince McMahon Was Impressed With Tommaso Ciampa’s Broad Shoulders

Former NXT Champion Tommaso Ciampa finally made the permanent move to the main roster after WrestleMania. One detail regarding Ciampa that fans may’ve missed was him wrestling in long tights during his early run on RAW and Main Event. During his NXT run, Ciampa wrestled primarily in trunks.

Speaking at San Diego Comic Con, Ciampa revealed why the brief change to his wrestling attire was made. Apparently, it all had to do with Vince McMahon being impressed with Ciampa’s upper body.

Lots of stuff happened when I made the jump from NXT. One thing, for me, was switching appearances slightly. I had a discussion with a very higher-up person in our company. I had a tank top and I was supposed to go out for a match on Main Event. I had these shorts on. He said [Vince McMahon impression], ‘Woah, look at those shoulders. Broad shoulders. Legs are a little slender.’ I really calmy said, ‘I didn’t want to try the long tights.’ I advocated a couple of weeks back and that was my main roster debut gear. Since then, I’ve had trunks.

Ciampa now has aligned himself with The Miz on RAW. The two have been ganging up against the likes of AJ Styles and YouTube celebrity Logan Paul. The Miz is set to face Paul in a singles match at SummerSlam.
