Montez Ford has been getting a lot of buzz lately. As a member of the Street Profits, he’s currently preparing for a Unified WWE Tag Team Championship match with The Usos at SummerSlam. Ford’s great work and charisma have a lot of people thinking that it’s a matter of time before he goes off on his own.
Even The Rock thinks Montez Ford has what it takes to be a major singles star in WWE. There have long been rumors that Ford will eventually get a big push. His tag partner, Angelo Dawkins, is also a believer in the hype.
Sports Illustrated’s Justin Barrasso recently caught up with Montez Ford. He was asked whether he is ready for a singles run. Ford said he still has unfinished business with The Street Profits before he’s ready to think about it.
“The difference between singles wrestling and being part of a tag team is that all the attention is on you. I’m not ready to shift my focus yet. There is still a lot left for me to attain with Dawkins. SummerSlam is a huge opportunity. We want to make that night special.”
It seems that a singles run for Montez Ford is inevitable. While that may be his ultimate destiny, for now, he is focused on tag team wrestling. Montez is going to do what he can to make SummerSlam a memorable night.
Time will tell if and when Montez Ford breaks away to carve his own path. For the time being, he said he appreciates what he has. Montez only cares about putting on the best performance possible at SummerSlam, and the chips will fall as they may after that.
