CM Punk won the AEW World Championship after defeating ‘Hangman’ Adam Page at May’s Double or Nothing pay-per-view. He suffered an injury to his foot that required surgery shortly thereafter. Since then, Jon Moxley earned the title of AEW Interim World Champion while the Second City Saint heals up.
AEW’s upcoming All Out PPV takes place just outside of CM Punk’s hometown of Chicago. He is featured on some of the promotional materials for the event. Many fans are hoping he will be able to make it back in time for the show.
While it is a possibility, nothing is set in stone as far as a timetable for CM Punk’s return to AEW. On today’s Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer pointed out that it should not be too much longer. Punk’s return to the ring will likely come sometime after August.
“Punk should not be long before he returns. I mean, not this month. Probably not August, but perhaps All Out, perhaps Full Gear, I think it’ll be one of those shows when he’s back.”
It was recently reported that fans shouldn’t expect CM Punk to be out much longer. A broken foot usually takes a couple of months to recover from. We don’t know a lot about the specific injury he suffered but he did undergo successful surgery in June.
Whether it is at All Out, Full Gear, or some other time, AEW fans are chomping at the bit for CM Punk’s return. With Bryan Danielson, Adam Cole, and others also currently injured, there has been a lot of star power missing on Dynamite and Rampage. Hopefully, Punk can get back into the ring very soon.
