Marty Scurll was recently booked for an upcoming event at Santino Marella’s Battle Arts promotion. Scurll has largely been blackballed from professional wrestling in North America after having a sexual relationship with a 16-year-old girl. Fans responded with outrage when Santino shared the news.
Scurll is scheduled for the August 13 event in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada. When Santino tweeted a video promoting his appearance, the response was overwhelmingly negative. Santino has now issued a response, although this time, the replies were disabled.
In a tweet this morning, Santino Marella referenced his booking of Marty Scurll. He believes in second chances. It remains to be seen if fans will feel the same.
“Everybody deserves a chance to redeem themselves.”
Before the accusations, Marty Scurll was one of wrestling’s hottest names. He was signed with Ring of Honor, and many believed he was destined to join AEW as a member of the Bullet Club. Since then, he has worked on shows in Puerto Rico and Europe.
Marty Scurll’s return to the North American wrestling scene will be met with plenty of backlash. Many promoters have wanted nothing to do with him since his allegations became public. Santino Marella thinks Marty should have at least one shot at redemption.
