The Young Bucks defended the AEW World Tag Team Championships in a triple threat match against Powerhouse Hobbs & Ricky Starks and Swerve Strickland & Keith Lee in the main event of this week’s episode of AEW Dynamite. Lee and Swerve ended up winning the match and became the new champions as well, but Matt Jackson was hurt in the process. The nature of Matt Jackson’s injury has also been revealed.
As previously reported, Matt Jackson was hurt during the tag team match. Matt Jackson was injured when Keith Lee and Hobbs gave him a routine vertical suplex. The match carried on despite this, but Jackson did not take many bumps following that.
According to Bryan Alvarez on Wrestling Observer Radio, it was said that Matt Jackson suffered a stinger off the vertical suplex. Due to his ongoing neck issues, the suplex affected him badly.
Matt Jackson suffered a stinger off a normal vertical suplex.
It was also noted that since it was a double suplex, the timing was likely off because once he landed, Matt Jackson grabbed his neck. Keith Lee gave him a pretty gentle powerbomb later on in the match, but Matt largely remained inactive. Now it remains to be seen when Jackson will return, as it might not be a long time.
