William Regal’s contributions to the pro wrestling world are something no one can deny. Regal is heralded as one of the greatest minds in pro wrestling, and he has always proven this fact. Edge also sought William Regal’s help for a huge match.
Following Edge’s shocking return at the 2020 Royal Rumble, he was embroiled in a feud with Randy Orton. The two would have two intense matches back in 2020. One would be their Last Man Standing Match at WrestleMania 36 and the other was their one-on-one match at WWE Backlash, which WWE billed as the “Greatest Wrestling Match Ever.”
The match received a ton of praise from fans and Superstars alike as both competitors gave it their all in order to win the match. In the end, Randy Orton stood tall when all was said and done.
While speaking on his Gentleman Villain podcast, William Regal revealed that Edge came to him for advice ahead of his ‘Greatest Wrestling Match Ever’ match against Randy Orton.
“And I remember at the beginning of COVID he [Bryan Danielson] called me up and said ‘Look, I need some help with something because I’m not used to working in front of no crowds.’ So, I’m not going to get into that discussion now, but it was a deep discussion.
I remember Edge calling me when he was doing a match with Randy Orton, which was built as the Greatest Wrestling Match Of All Time, and he wanted ideas. And so I’ve got all these different things that I can tap into.”
Edge is currently out of action after being attacked by Finn Balor and kicked out of Judgment Day. It remains to be seen when the Rated R Superstar will make his return to WWE television.
