Killer Kross was one of the top Superstars in NXT, as he eventually won the NXT Championship on two different occasions. Unfortunately, his main roster run ended up being a disaster in general. He also feels NXT talent were too focused on competing with AEW during the Wednesday Night Wars.
The Wednesday Night Wars began in October 2019 as NXT and AEW Dynamite went head-to-head in a battle of supremacy. In the end, AEW won the Wednesday Night Wars after NXT shifted to Tuesdays.
While speaking to Steve Fall for NBC Sports Boston, Killer Kross talked about his time working in NXT. Kross stated that he feels NXT talent were too focused on competing with AEW.
“If there was little pockets of people that really thought that or felt that way, I wasn’t really engaging with them.
Probably. I don’t think anyone would’ve come to me with that though. The reason being is I’m pretty even keel. My focus is always on producing the best of the time that’s given to me for the show. So, to give an example, I was just most interested in being as entertaining as possible with the time that was given in the show, in the vignettes, and stuff like that. I would get with teams of people and I would just focus on that.
I do know that there are some people who focus way too much on what other people are being paid, and their quartelys, and what the demographics are, and stuff like that. At the end of the day, I hate to say it, it’s true though, as a wrestler, you can only be accountable for so much. So, if you’re going to concern yourself with details that are completely out of your control, you’re not going to enjoy this anymore. I’ve seen it. I’ve seen people drive themselves insane.
Killer Kross is also trying to make use of the things he learned in WWE in the independent circuit. Killer Kross’ email also blew up with offers after his WWE release. It remains to be seen what Kross will do next in his career.
