Alexa Bliss teamed up with Asuka to defeat Doudrop and Nikki A.S.H. on last night’s episode of Raw. Bliss is one of the most popular superstars on WWE’s women’s roster, but something has been missing since her return to the ring. Many have criticized the company for not having any creative direction for Bliss.

During the tag team encounter, there were some remarks on commentary about how Alexa Bliss hasn’t been the same since coming back. It seemed like an odd thing to say. It was noted that Alexa lost something before going to therapy, and what might be wrong with Bliss was talked about during the bout.

On the latest Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer speculated that there is definitely something happening with Bliss. It appears the order to criticize Alexa Bliss’ performance came from the back. That made Meltzer wonder if there isn’t something going on that we don’t know about.

“He said it in a way to where it wasn’t like just something that he said on his own. It was clearly something, the way he brought it up, that it was his instructions to say from the back, so there’s something going on with Alexa Bliss and it’s not that like… Because the announcers… Your job is never to say that the old character is better than the new character. There’s ways to say it and they said it in that way, so something’s up with Alexa Bliss and we’ll see what that is.”

After returning to go through several therapy sessions, WWE seemed to have abandoned the angle. She simply returned as a surprise opponent for Sonya Deville with little fanfare. Perhaps they are building to a redemption storyline.

It will be interesting to see exactly what WWE has planned for Alexa Bliss. At the moment, the announcers are speaking as if something is missing. For many fans, they’d just be happy to see her involved in a meaningful angle.
