AEW held the Owen Hart Foundation Tournament earlier this year, finishing it at Double or Nothing. Dr. Martha Hart presented the trophies to winners Adam Cole and Dr. Britt Baker at the event. One member of the Hart family currently employed in WWE recently gave a bit of praise for AEW’s tournament.
Natalya appeared on BT Sport’s “Ariel Helwani Meets” and spoke about how she felt seeing Owen’s wife appear live on a wrestling show. The Queen of Hearts admitted that although it’s difficult because she’s currently wrestling in WWE, she still has “tremendous” respect for what she did.
I think that she did such a beautiful job. She carries herself so well. She was so poised. It was the first time that fans really got a chance to like, see her.
When asked what she thought of the tournament, Natalya said that she appreciated AEW honoring Owen the way Dr. Hart ” wanted [her] to honor him.” Natalya also understood why Dr. Hart didn’t want to do business with WWE.
For years, Dr. Hart stated she wouldn’t let WWE induct her husband into the Hall of Fame after his tragic death at WWE’s Over The Edge PPV in 1999. Dr. Martha and WWE settled the wrongful death suit for approximately $18 million, with much of the money going to the Owen Hart Foundation.
