AEW shows have been raking up big ratings, and AEW Dynamite will not be left behind soon. While AEW Blood & Guts was a huge success with new fans switching in, the July 6th edition of AEW Dynamite saw a viewer count of less than a million.
Tony Khan is improving on this by programming their shows to get higher audience receptivity. The secret sauce for this is simply booking talent against each other that gets tremendous response from fans. For the upcoming episode of AEW Dynamite, Tony Khan announced a match between Jon Moxley and Konosuke Takeshita.
The AEW founder took to Twitter and announced the bout between the current AEW World Champion and Takeshita. In the 7/13 edition of AEW Dynamite, they’ll fight in a singles bout, though it’s not a title shot for Takeshita.
After @Takesoup’s amazing battle vs @MadKing1981, AEW Interim World Champion @JonMoxley wants to fight Takeshita on #AEWDynamite! While I won’t sanction it as a title match since Eddie won Friday’s bout, if Takeshita wins Wednesday on TBS vs Mox then he earns a future title shot!
Konosuke Takeshita’s performance definitely matters in this match. If he shows the world that he can take out the AEW World Champion, he’ll set himself up for a title match later on. You can find the updated line-up for the July 13th edition of AEW Dynamite below.
