Marty Scurll’s name has been poison in the United States wrestling scene since a major controversy derailed his career at the outset of the COVID pandemic. Scurll had a sexual encounter with a 16-year-old girl. Since then, he has been persona-non-grata for most promoters in the US.

Many thought Scurll would be headed to AEW after his contract with Ring of Honor expired. Instead, he has been mostly blackballed from working anywhere. Now, he has been booked for an independent show in Canada, and fans are not thrilled about it.

Santino Marella posted a tweet announcing Marty Scurll for his August 13 Battle Arts show in Mississauga, Ontario. Fans quickly responded with a slew of negative reactions. Almost nobody seemed excited about seeing Marty working again.

“oh god dude really? why???”

“Erm, no”

“you can keep it babe”

“i was doing great not seeing him anywhere anymore actually so i will have to pass on seeing him in a way i’ve never seen him before so thank you for offering but i will not be saving that date and i hope in future you don’t book people who take advantage of drunken teenagers”

It remains to be seen if Santino Marella will change his mind about the booking. It looks like they’ve done quite a bit of work to build a video package for his debut. With fan reactions almost solely landing on the negative side of things, Santino might have to think twice about his decision.
