Jeff Hardy is a true veteran in the pro wrestling world and continues to get a ton of fan support no matter what. However, Jeff Hardy’s personal demons continue to cost him a lot even now. WWE and AEW have also been criticized for using Jeff Hardy’s personal problems in their storylines.
Hardy made headlines for all the wrong reasons after he was arrested for driving under the influence after leaving a local Dave & Busters. Things only went downhill for him after that as well.
Both WWE and AEW have used Hardy’s issues in their storylines, with AEW’s being mentioned during a recent episode of AEW Dynamite. While speaking on the Busted Open podcast, Mark Henry criticized WWE and AEW for using Jeff Hardy’s personal problems in their storylines.
“The fans, they’re gonna do what they want to do, Bully. This is not WWE, this is not AEW that are making these comments. They both did the same thing. Now, how do fans relate to that is up to the fans. In my opinion, I probably would’ve spirit away from using it, but Christian, man, him and Sheamus both, I mean for me, I wouldn’t have done it.
No [Don’t like getting this personal] But, it was effective both of them [Sheamus and Christian] using it, and one have more fallout than the other, but I think it’s recency bias too. The first time they did it – Oh that’s bullsh*t. Second time they’re tolerant.”
AEW has suspended Jeff Hardy without pay until he makes a full recovery. We hope, for his sake and everyone else around him, Hardy properly recovers.
