Pat McAfee made a name for himself on the gridiron, but his NFL days are behind him. He’s in WWE now, and looking at a big SummerSlam moment. That being said, he won’t be around SmackDown this week in his usual position.

Corey Graves established himself as one of the main attractions of Monday Night RAW, as part of the commentary team. For many fans, Graves is one of the reasons to even watch a WWE show. He is also set to replace Pat McAfee on this week’s episode of Friday Night Smackdown.

McAfee ended up signing a contract extension with the company. Corey Graves announced on today’s episode of WWE After The Bell that he will be replacing Pat McAfee on this week’s episode of Friday Night Smackdown.

No reason for McAfee’s absence has been given. It is likely this is being done to sell the storyline between McAfee and Happy Corbin. McAfee is currently set to face Happy Corbin in a match at SummerSlam. We’ll have to wait and see how the match will turn out to be.
