Chris Jericho is a true legend in the pro wrestling world who has accomplished a lot in the business. He is also proud to be working in AEW and is never afraid of showing it. Jericho also explained his weight issues over the past few years.
For the past few months, Chris Jericho looked in excellent shape, as he even had noticeable abs again. Jericho ended up losing weight due to medical issues during his UK tour.
Prior to this, Chris Jericho was fat shamed quite often due to his bulky physique. While speaking on his podcast, “Talk is Jericho,” Chris Jericho explained the reasons for his weight issues.
“I gained weight after I worked with Kenny Omega at the Tokyo Dome. I was going through a Bruiser Brody phase and I thought, ‘I’m not tall like Brody, but I can be bigger than all these Japanese guys because the way things are now, I’m a taller guy.’ Japanese appreciate the bulkier physiques. ‘Let me get bigger and beat the crap out of everybody,’ which is what I did and it worked out to where I had three Tokyo Dome main events, I just never lost the weight. The pandemic comes and you don’t realize it.
Was I too big? Absolutely. Overweight? I guess. Ever out of shape cardio-wise? No, I was never blowing up.”
Chris Jericho and the rest of the Jericho Appreciation Society lost the Blood & Guts match last week on AEW Dynamite. They continued their feud with Eddie Kingston on this week’s show. We’ll have to see how it will continue in the coming weeks.
