Austin Theory made history at Money in the Bank for many reasons. He is not only the youngest Money in the Bank winner, but he is also the only one to win the briefcase after losing the United States Title on the same night. That was always the plan for Mr. McMahon’s new favorite project.

Ringside News asked around about Money in the Bank plans and whether things changed late in the game. It seemed that Theory was a last-minute replacement, since he was added right before the match started.

We were told that Theory was always the winner. That being said, it was always in the plan for Theory to drop the United States Title before snatching the Money in the Bank briefcase to close out the show.

As we previously reported, talent were not told about match finishes until the morning of the show. Although the winners might have been kept from talent, Vince McMahon had already decided that Austin Theory would pull down the guaranteed contract for a title match at the end of the night.
