WWE Hall Of Famer Edge is undoubtedly one of the most popular Superstars in the company’s history. He has done it all as far as being a pro wrestler is concerned. He also recalled one of the most iconic moments in his career concerning John Cena.
The Rated R Superstar has competed in several iconic matches, pioneering the TLC matches and many others. Edge has also faced the top talents in all of WWE and that includes his feud with John Cena.
Edge and John Cena’s feud during the early to late 2000s was a highlight of WWE television. This includes the time he cashed in his Money In The Bank briefcase on John Cena at the New Year’s Revolution in 2006.
While speaking to ESPN, Edge talked about cashing in on John Cena. He also shared his thoughts after the match, after he became the WWE Champion.
“I’m pretty sure John felt like he’d been in a few street fights after that ’cause I was pretty amped up. The only thing I thought, after having won the briefcase and having held it that whole time, as a heel character, it made sense to cash in in a very cheap way. And I love that it kept that opportunity open because I could get some serious heat off that. Because if you cash it in when the champ is beat down, now you’re a vulture. I just remember thinking this is what I worked for. Every year in the industry to that point, that’s what I worked for.”
Edge has been out of action after he was betrayed by Judgment Day a few weeks ago. We will have to wait and see when he will make his return to WWE television.
