Gunther had an amazing run in NXT UK as he became the longest-reigning champion in modern WWE by holding the NXT UK Title for a record 870 days. He would drop the title to Ilja Dragunov at NXT TakeOver 36. The former WALTER has lofty goals in WWE as well.
Gunther eventually made his way to the US as part of the NXT roster as well. Gunther and Ludwig Kaiser made their main roster debut on Friday Night Smackdown earlier this year.
Gunter also won the Intercontinental Championship earlier this month. While speaking to BT Sports, Gunther made it clear he wants to rise to the top of the company and wants all or nothing in WWE.
“Joining SmackDown or coming to the main roster and the United States, I didn’t do that because I wanted to be a medium guy, and want to achieve a little something and then leave there. No. I’m here to be the top guy and that’s what I’m going to aim for in the long term. I want to be ‘The Guy’ of the company and to be in the ring with the best the company has to offer. That’s what I’m aiming for. Whatever way that will go, nobody knows. But that’s what I’m here for. It’s basically all or nothing.”
WWE is clearly high on Gunther right now. We’ll have to see how he will be booked in the coming weeks as the Intercontinental Champion.
