Ronda Rousey’s return to WWE was one of the most exciting moments this year. Rousey left WWE after WrestleMania 35, when she lost in a triple threat match. Her return came at the time of WWE Royal Rumble, where she ended up winning the Women’s Royal Rumble match

Rousey left WWE while she was being seen as a heel by the fans. She even trashed fans during her interviews after she took a break from WWE. Upon her return, however, she received a warm welcome as well as cheers from her fans.

The Women’s Royal Rumble winner recently spoke to Daniel Cormier on The DC Check In. She explained that even though the cheers were a great surprise, they ended up ruining her plans after her big return.

I was supposed to come back as a heel. Vince (McMahon) was like, ‘they popped real big, so she’s a babyface.’ I did a heel interview after and everyone was like, ‘what the hell?’ Next Monday, I’m like, ‘I’m coming in as a heel’ and they’re like, ‘No, you need to smile and you need to stop being a bitch.’ ‘No, I love being a bitch! It’s my outlet for bitchery!’ ‘No, pull it back for a little bit.’ ‘Okay, high fives.’ It’s fine being a babyface.

Rousey welcomed the cheers regardless, as they gave her at least another angle to work with. However, things could have been similar to Batista’s return back in 2014. Rousey said in the interview that she expected to get hit with a lot of boos, and had her guard up.

Ronda Rousey took on Charlotte Flair after winning the Women’s Royal Rumble. She emerged victorious, and became the SmackDown’s Women’s Champion. She is currently slated to defend her title against Natalya at WWE Money In The Bank.
