Jon Moxley came out of his interim AEW World Championship match with Hiroshi Tanahashi at Forbidden Door bloodied, but victorious. After the match, Mox said that he might have suffered a concussion. Nervous AEW fans wondered if he might be yet another wrestler added to Tony Khan’s long list of injuries heading into Wednesday night’s Blood & Guts match.

It seemed at the time that Moxley was just selling his wear and tear from the match with Tanahashi. That turns out to be the case. Jon Moxley did not suffer a concussion in the bout, he was simply putting over how intense of a fight he had just been through.

On today’s Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer cleared up the situation. He said he does not think Jon Moxley will be making a similar statement in the future. Despite saying that he might have been hurt, Jon enjoyed his match on the PPV.

“He doesn’t have a concussion and he’s probably not going to use the line again because he kind of recognized that if he doesn’t have a concussion, he probably shouldn’t use the line because people freak out over it. But that is what it was, is that it was just a line that he uses after really hard matches, but he’s actually super happy. He loved his match last night.”

Mox will team up with Claudio Castagnoli, Eddie Kingston, Wheeler Yuta, Santana & Ortiz to take on the Jericho Appreciation Society in Wednesday’s double ring, double cage war. It is sure to be yet another brutal match. Fortunately, Jon Moxley will be healthy heading into what has become one of AEW’s signature television events.

Moxley has built a reputation on violent matches. This time, he was simply selling the fact that he had a very demanding bout. On Wednesday, Blood & Guts should go according to plan barring any last-minute issues.
