John Cena celebrated his 20 years with the WWE tonight on Raw. The Cenation leader entered the arena to a round of applause from those working in front of and behind the scenes.

WWE ran a couple of pre-recorded video messages from current superstars and legends of the business for Cena’s 20-year celebration. AEW stars Paul Wight, Chris Jericho and Bryan Danielson also sent out their video tributes for Cena.
Sean Sapp reported from behind Fightful’s paywall that WWE contacted AEW for allowing their talent to film video messages for Cena and that Khan had no problem giving the permission to do so.
June 27’s WWE Raw saw a very unique situation, with AEW talent Paul Wight and Bryan Danielson appearing during John Cena “congratulations” videos for his 20 year anniversary.
We’re told that the situation was very straightforward in making it happen. The idea was pitched, and then AEW founder Tony Khan was contacted in order to see if he’d be okay with it.
Given the circumstances surrounding the videos, he was said to be okay with the videos and provided approval. A WWE source told us that they were able to land virtually everyone they hoped to for the “congrats” videos. These instances have been few and far between since AEW launched in 2019.
Cena was introduced to the ring by none other than Vince McMahon. The 16-time world champion cut a heartfelt promo and struggled to hold back his tears while doing so. Keep reading Ringside News for more!
