AEW often gets criticized for adding more performers into an already stacked roster. Some of the wrestlers that work for the Jacksonville-based promotion get paychecks handed to them per appearance.
Sean Sapp reported from behind Fightful’s paywall that multiple performers in the promotion have had their per-appearance agreements expired, but the news has not come to light of yet. The list of names was also not included in his report.
In the same vein, we’re told that there are some under the radar, per-appearance agreements that have expired this year that haven’t ended up becoming public as of yet. We’ll work to learn more information on that.
A few people have left AEW in recent memory, mostly originals like Joey Janela, Marko Stunt, and Stu Grayson. As the company’s locker room fills with former WWE talent, that trend could very well continue.
AEW is set to hold Forbidden Door in collaboration with New Japan Pro Wrestling at the United Center in Chicago tonight. Tune into Ringside News for live coverage of the pay-per-view event.
