AEW has faced a lot of questions about its relationship with the new management at Warner Bros. Discovery. WB and Discovery, the parent company of TBS and TNT, recently merged, causing a lot of fans to wonder about Tony Khan’s promotion’s future on the Turner networks. It seems like the relationship is very strong.

Before the merger, there was some crossover between AEW and Warner Bros. When the movie ‘Godzilla vs Kong’ launched, Bear Country wrestled Jurassic Express in a gimmick match to promote the film. Shaq wrestled a match to cross-promote with the NBA on TNT. Now that Discovery is a part of the WB family, execs are hoping to bring AEW into the fold for their popular ‘Shark Week.’

In this week’s edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer dropped the tidbit. AEW stars have already filmed content for the crossover with Shark Week. There is also some sort of gimmick match planned.

“AEW will have heavy involvement with Shark Week on Discovery. Many promos have already been filmed and they plan on doing some kind of a gimmick match that week related to it.”

It will be interesting to see what Warner Bros. Discover and AEW have planned. Shark Week kicks off next month on July 24. It is one of Discovery’s longest-running and most popular traditions.

Tony Khan has been doing what he can to increase the appeal of AEW to a wider audience. Shark Week gets a lot of viewers every year. It makes sense to participate if the opportunity is there.
