The NXT UK Tag Team Championships were on the shaky ground heading into today’s tapings. The champions, Oliver Carter and Ashton Smith, were forced to vacate the titles after Smith suffered an injury. Although the former champs might have a long ways to go before reclaiming their gold, a new team has just snatched up the championships.

Brooks Jensen and Josh Briggs won the titles in a four-way match during the tapings today. The team was originally scheduled to face the champions but instead had to be content with defeating Dave Mastiff & Jack Starz, Mark Andrews & Wild Boar and Die Familie.

Before traveling to the UK, Jensen and Briggs mainly wrestled in the NXT 2.0 brand. Fans of both have seen UK stars make appearances on the 2.0 brand, with some even making it their permanent home. Briggs has been part of the 2021 NXT Breakout Tournament, while Jensen aligned himself with Briggs to take on Imperium in a losing effort.

The title change marks the first time that both Jensen and Briggs have held WWE gold. With 2.0 adding UK stars and even main roster talent, the brand continues to grow bigger with each show. Fans of the brand will undoubtedly be looking forward to who visits next.
