Dewey Foley first became famous when his father, Mick Foley, wrestled as Cactus Jack in ECW. One of the fans in Philadelphia brought a sign that famously said, “Cane Dewey.” Foley referenced the sign in a famous promo against the hardcore fans, and Dewey became a part of wrestling lore forever.
As he grew up, Dewey Foley became more directly involved in the pro wrestling business. Foley spent time learning the ropes backstage in WWE. He was elevated to a key member of the creative team in 2020. Dewey has reportedly now left WWE.
Mike Johnson of PW Insider noted that Dewey Foley appears to have parted ways with WWE in late April. He was not fired or released. Dewey made a personal decision to leave.
“Dewey Foley, the son of WWE Hall of Fame Mick Foley, who had been on the WWE Creative Team, most recently for NXT and who made appearances for the company on the WWE Network Holy Foley! reality series, recently departed WWE. One source stated Foley exited in late April. We are told that he chose to leave the company and it was not a case of him being cut. At one point, he was the lead writer for 205 Live.”
Dewey Foley was employed by WWE since 2015. He was occasionally featured on screen and starred in a WWE-produced reality show about his family. Now, it appears Foley is ready for his next challenge.
Foley remains interested in wrestling. He recently made a suggestion with a possible side of shade to Tony Khan. Time will tell what comes next for Dewey Foley. For now, he has chosen to move on from WWE.
