Matt Hardy Injured After AAA TripleMania Match

Matt Hardy was scheduled to compete for the AEW Tag Team Championships with his brother Jeff Hardy on AEW Dynamite. Unfortunately, Jeff was arrested for a DUI, and Matt, by proxy, was left off the AEW card. Matt hasn’t been seen on AEW television, but he kept himself busy as he wrestled Johnny Hardy (John Hennigan) at AAA TripleMania match this past weekend. However, a recent development might’ve just put Hardy on the shelf.

Fightful’s Sean Sapp reported behind his paywall that Hardy may have injured himself during the match. If this is correct, then that would mean both Hardy brothers might remain out of the ring for some time.

Matt Hardy also was banged up after his AAA TripleMania match. We’re told that he had some major swelling on his knee, but haven’t heard if there’s any update or about the severity.

AEW has been plagued with unfortunate injuries ever since Double or Nothing. Not only has Adam Cole been reportedly dealing with some injuries, but AEW World Champion CM Punk revealed a foot injury that caused him to temporarily relinquished the championship.

Company President Tony Khan has said that he can’t wait for everyone to return to action. However, with AEW X NJPW: Forbidden Door happening this weekend, let’s hope another injury is not on the horizon.
