Vince McMahon is a very controversial and bizarre individual, who moves to the beat of his own drums. The former WWE Chairman truly does what he wants and does not care what anyone else thinks. Mark Henry also shared his thoughts on McMahon’s most recent controversy.
McMahon made mainstream news lately after he secretly paid $3 million as a settlement to a departing employee. This led to him being investigated on all the NDAs he had signed as well, something that McMahon is cooperating with.
The former WWE Chairman also cut an opening promo on last week’s Smackdown but did not really address anything. While speaking on the Busted Open show, Mark Henry stated that he believes Vince McMahon wanted to show off his billionaire mentality with his Smackdown appearance.
“You know what, this is the hottest thing in the world, you can possibly bring in people that have never even watched wrestling before and it was just a media deal, it was just a ratings push. The second thing was, you [Bully Ray] know Vince and I know Vince, and Vince is going through something that should be personal, shouldn’t even be out in the world. Just that people are not able to shut up about business that don’t belong to them and then they come out with it. Whether it’s right or wrong, it’s still personal.
I thought Vince was basically saying to everybody: ‘Listen, I’m not going to go into hiding, I’m not going to regress, I’m going to grow from this I’m a grown man, I’m not afraid of you. You can kiss my a*s.’ He had the ‘kiss my a*s club’, you know what, when you’re a billionaire, you got this ‘kiss my a*s’ mentality – ‘I could do whatever I need to do.’ I thought there was nothing short of that in that appearance.”
According to some, Vince McMahon’s promo was a bit tone-deaf. The investigation is still carrying on and Stephanie McMahon is the interim Chairman until the investigation is concluded. We’ll have to see what becomes of the investigation in the end.
