Vince McMahon Scheduled To Speak With Talent Before WWE SmackDown

WWE surprised everybody when they announced that Vince McMahon will appear on tonight’s episode of WWE SmackDown. McMahon is currently being investigated for alleged hush money he paid to an employee with whom he had an affair. Vince stepped down as CEO of the company for the duration of that investigation.

Tonight’s appearance by McMahon is said to be ‘in character.’ What will not be in character will be Vince’s address to the talent backstage. In this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer reported that McMahon will address the WWE roster before tonight’s episode of SmackDown.

“One company employee noted to us that they were told Vince would be addressing talent on Friday regarding this story.”

Stephanie McMahon is serving as the interim CEO of WWE during the investigation. Stephanie recently announced that she was taking a leave of absence from her job. The situation with her father has forced a hasty reversal of that decision.

Most WWE wrestlers reportedly had no idea that an affair was taking place between Vince McMahon and the employee. There were some suspicions after she received a substantial raise and a promotion. Still, the news took most of the locker room by surprise.

WWE has a lot of work to do to balance the many moving parts of this disastrous story. Addressing talent will be one of the most important. It will be interesting to see how morale is backstage as WWE enters a very uncertain period in the company’s history.
