Kazuchika Okada is one of the top NJPW stars that American fans would love to see on the upcoming Forbidden Door pay-per-view. The Rainmaker has become one of the most popular Japanese wrestlers among American fans due to his incredible match quality and charisma. On last night’s episode of AEW Dynamite, Adam Cole said that Okada would not be at the pay-per-view.
News broke in April that Kazuchika Okada’s wife’s birthday fell around the same time as Forbidden Door. Okada said he didn’t think he would be able to make it. Now, a much bigger reason for his potential absence has been revealed.
On today’s Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer noted that Okada’s wife is scheduled to give birth around that time. That would be a perfectly good reason not to make the trip to Chicago. Dave believes Okada will not be on the show.
“Adam Cole mentioned no Okada on the show and I do not have that clarified, but Okada’s wife is scheduled to give birth right around that time, so that may be the reason that Okada is not on the show. I don’t think he is, because I can’t imagine them saying, ‘Okada’s not on the show,’ and it not being true. We’ll probably also know that in the next day or two.”
Not having Kazuchika Okada at Forbidden Door would be a huge hit for the event. Okada is beloved by fans around the world and many assumed he would have to be there. For now, it appears that is not the case.
Fans will have to keep an eye on the news to see if anything new breaks regarding Kazuchika Okada appearing at Forbidden Door. The show is right around the corner. If AEW plans to have him in Chicago, it would be wise to let people know soon.
