CM Punk made huge strides after debuting in AEW last year and eventually reached the top of the mountain by winning the AEW World Champion at AEW Double Or Nothing. His reign didn’t start all that well and it ended up disappointing fans. Khan also commented on CM Punk’s return timetable after surgery.
As seen on a previous week’s episode of AEW Rampage, CM Punk revealed that he is injured. This shocked fans as they believed another Summer Of Punk was going to happen.
CM Punk has already undergone successful surgery last week. While speaking with Comicbook.com, AEW President Tony Khan was asked about CM Punk’s return timetable. Khan didn’t provide any timetable but made it clear both he and Punk are optimistic about his return.
“I can’t comment on his return timetable. I’m very hopeful and optimistic though, and his surgery was successful, and he’ll be back. I don’t want to put an exact date on it and put any expectations on him. But I do think we’re very optimistic about it and I think Punk is optimistic about it too, which is great.”
CM Punk also likely suffered a foot injury. It remains to be seen when the Second City Saint will make his triumphant return to AEW television.
