For a long time, fans had been demanding that AEW introduce a new champion, especially a trios title. That did not exactly happen as AEW introduced a new championship on last week’s episode of Dynamite. Khan also explained why he created the AEW All-Atlantic Championship.

The first-ever All-Atlantic Champion will be crowned after a tournament that will culminate at Forbidden Door. Unsurprisingly, fans were not necessarily into the idea of the new championship.

While speaking with Comic Book, AEW President Tony Khan justified the reasoning for the new title as he explained why the title needed to be made in the first place.

“…So for the international fans and for the international wrestlers on the roster, I felt like it would create more opportunities. But I also don’t think this title or these opportunities are exclusive to the international wrestlers. But it’s a big benefit of the term.”

We will have to wait and see who will be crowned the first-ever AEW All-Atlantic Champion. Perhaps with enough good matches, fans might finally start getting interested in the title.
