Big E suffered a broken neck following an overhead-belly-to-belly suplex from Ridge Holland during a tag match on SmackDown. The former WWE Champion revealed on social media that his C1 and C6 vertebrae were fractured but that he wouldn’t require surgery. While Big E has mostly been seen since wearing a neck brace, a recent Instagram post suggests he’s ready to be seen without it.

Big E posted a short three-second video to his Instagram story of himself throwing the neck brace in the trash. He was also reading a book before that called, “Maybe They’ll Have You Back.”

Although this doesn’t mean he’s ready to return to in-ring action, it’s the first bit of good news in a while. Big E has been missed by many in WWE, including his New Day brothers, Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods.

Woods and Kingston have since been embroiled in a feud with Sheamus’ new stable, The Brawling Brutes. The New Day paid tribute to their fallen brother at WrestleMania by wearing Big E-inspired gear. Though the stacks have been against the team, New Day hopes to rise to the occasion once their brother returns to SmackDown.

Big E cashed in the Money in the Bank briefcase last year to win the WWE Championship. He’s also a former Intercontinental Champion and the last person to defend the title on a PPV. As for now, we have to wait and see when Big E will be back alongside his New Day brothers.
