Andrade El Idolo Upset He Can’t Work For NJPW

Andrade El Idolo made a name for himself as an international star before ever setting foot in WWE or AEW. He became a worldwide star after working in CMLL in Mexico as well as New Japan Pro Wrestling. With AEW’s upcoming Forbidden Door crossover event with NJPW, one would think Andrade would be a sure thing for the card.

A recent tweet reveals that may not be the case. Andrade El Idolo expressed his frustration at being unable to compete for NJPW due to some issues with the top Mexican promotions. Andrade is currently signed to a deal with AAA, which works closely with AEW. CMLL partners with NJPW, which looks to have created a conflict.

“I can’t work with NJPW, thanks CMLL and AAA”

Andrade wrestled Kenny Omega for the AAA Mega Championship at last year’s TripleMania. His work in New Japan was highlighted by an IWGP Intercontinental Championship win in 2014. He had memorable matches there with Shinsuke Nakamura and others before moving on to WWE and eventually AEW.

The Young Bucks and other AEW stars also have deals with AAA. This could have an impact on the way the card for Forbidden Door is built. Time will tell if the parties can work something out.

For now, it does not look like Andrade El Idolo will be able to work for New Japan. There could be a deal in place allowing the AEW stars who work for AAA to get an exclusion. As far as standalone work in NJPW, it is not looking promising for Andrade.
