Stephanie McMahon had a lot of responsibilities in WWE as she is the daughter of Vince McMahon. She did her best as the Chief Brand Officer of WWE but that is over now. In fact, her leaving WWE could be due to the company’s lawsuit with MLW.
Quite a few people in the company and even fans were surprised that she would step down from her position in WWE. A report from Business Insider said that Vince McMahon himself was behind the company getting rid of Stephanie McMahon, but that claim was refuted.
WWE was also accused of planting negative stories about Stephanie McMahon. According to Wrestling Observer Newsletter, it was noted that Stephanie’s departure was up for a couple of months before she announced it.
While we don’t have the answer for any of this, and within WWE this was heavily denied and again noted it was her decision and she was not forced out, inside of wrestling more and more people are bringing up the MLW lawsuit since she was directly named as the person who made the call to FOX which MLW claimed led to an agreed upon deal with Tubi being canceled. But something clearly changed. When they knew she was leaving, literally hours earlier, they put her on the Board of Directors, and even after this, she is still on the Board of Directors. She could have very easily when taking her leave also left her Board of Directors position and she did not do that, nor did anyone force her out
It was then revealed that WWE’s ongoing antitrust lawsuit against MLW may have something to do with McMahon’s departure. The lawsuit filed back in January 2022 allegedly stated that WWE persuaded FOX to nix a streaming deal with Tubi TV.
Many who have read the lawsuit will remember that Stephanie McMahon was singled out as the individual who reached out to FOX to try and end the agreement between MLW and Tubi TV.
Stephanie McMahon may never return to WWE either. WWE has already made a new hire to fill the void left by Stephanie McMahon. We’ll keep you updated on this ongoing story.
