Virgil became a important part of the rise of Ted DiBiase. During DiBiase’s run in WWE, Virgil was often by his side during matches and in backstage vignettes. While he was DiBiase’s trusted bodyguard, he was also often humiliated by him to the point where Virgil turned on DiBiase. The two would have a match at WrestleMania 7 where Virgil defeated DiBiase. Things are not that cool between the two of them now.
In April, Virgil announced he has dementia and suffered through two strokes. He then announced in May that he has stage 2 colon cancer. Although DiBiase has had a close working relationship with Virgil, today it was revealed Ted DiBiase might’ve not reached out to Virgil at all during his health battle. The former bodyguard of DiBiase attached a 2020 article regarding DiBiase being accused of receiving $2.1 million in welfare from the Mississippi and posted a message regrading the situation. You can check out what Virgil wrote below:
I’m sitting here hurting hustling my ass off and this guy doesn’t even bother fucking calling me asking me how I am. I try to do my best and get laughed at all these years later yet I am the one who has to do my best to make a buck to help with my problems. What a life
To be fair, Ted and his entire family have other things to worry about. It was reported last month that DiBiase family was named in a civil lawsuit filed by the Mississippi Department of Human Services. The lawsuit seeks $24 million to reclaim misused funds. We’ll have to wait and see how this story develops and whether DiBiase will Virgil in the near future.
