Gigi Dolin came onto the pro wrestling scene in 2015 while wrestling in the independent circuits. WWE has since signed her after wrestling in the second Mae Young Classic, having lost to Deonna Purrazzo. In July, she allied with Mandy Rose and Jacy Jayne, creating the dominant female NXT 2.0 group, Toxic Attraction. While Dolin has undoubtedly been on the upswing as of late, a recent report may’ve suggested that Dolin’s momentum could come to a screeching halt.
According to PW Insider, Dolin suffered a scary injury during a six-women tag match taped for next week’s episode. The match involved Toxic Attraction going against the team of Cora Jade, Indie Hartwell, and the winner of the first-ever Women’s NXT Breakout Tournament, Roxanne Perez. The report noted that while Jade hit a cannonball senton on Dolin and tried to pick Dolin up afterward, Dolin didn’t get up. This led to Jade quickly pinning Dolin to end the match.
It was said that Dolin was carried to the back and received a standing ovation from the crowd. Dolin did make an appearance later on for an in-ring promo, but it’s noted that the promo didn’t include any physicality.
Dolin coming back for the promo later on is a good sign. It’s also good hearing that the NXT faithful gave Dolin a standing ovation despite her being involved with a heel faction. As for now, we hope that she’s indeed healthy.
