Drew McIntyre is currently one of the top Superstars in WWE, and he clearly loves his profession. He is a former 2-time WWE Champion and has accomplished a lot in the company already. He also loved a suggestion Vince McMahon gave him.
The Scottish Warrior truly earned the trust of Vince McMahon and the results speak for themselves. McIntyre has carried a five-foot Claymore with him to the ring since 2020 and is named after his mother Angela, who passed away in 2012.
While speaking in a WWE UK video with Welsh musician Tara Bandito, Drew McIntyre talked about his “Kneel to the Steel” catchphrase. McIntyre revealed that McMahon wanted the sword to be named Angela.
“It was actually my boss, Mr. McMahon, Vince McMahon’s idea. We were trying to think of a name for the sword and I was thinking Bonnie, like Bloody Bonnie or something, like The Widowmaker… something ridiculous, something proper wrestling-like. He was like, ‘What’s your mother’s name?’ I went, ‘Angela.’ He went, ‘Would you like that?’ I went, ‘I would love that.’”
McIntyre also struggled with mental health issues in the past. McIntyre is likely to square off against Roman Reigns at WWE Clash at the Castle in Cardiff in September. We’ll have to see when the company will start booking the feud.
