Cody Rhodes was quickly positioned as the top babyface on RAW, and possibly the entire company, after his WrestleMania 38 return. It didn’t take very long for Cody to suffer an unfortunate setback. Now the company needs to figure out what to do next.
The American Nightmare was a big part of WWE’s creative plans moving forward. Due to his injury, Cody Rhodes will likely be out of action for six to nine months as he heals a torn pectoral muscle. Rhodes was able to compete at Hell in a Cell, but his next match will have to wait.
Ringside News was told that “lots of changes” were made to RAW once Cody was injured, “and that’s understandable.” We were told that “the roster needed to be shifted.”
We were not able to confirm that Edge getting kicked out of Judgement Day had anything to do with Cody Rhodes’ situation, but the timing is interesting. We were told that WWE is feeding out stories to generate buzz for that ongoing storyline.
WWE used Cody Rhodes as the only talent in their Money in the Bank commercial. That being said, he also filmed that commercial in a venue they are no longer using. The company has seemingly removed all traces of that commercial that they could at this point.
