Britt Baker took home the Owen Hart Foundation Tournament championship at Sunday’s AEW Double or Nothing pay-per-view. The DMD defeated Ruby Soho and then got her moment in the son with partner Adam Cole and Owen’s widow, Martha Hart. On this week’s Dynamite, Ruby got a rare pinfall on Britt during a tag team match.
Baker seldom loses to a clean pinfall in AEW. The former Women’s World Champion did just that when Ruby Soho nailed Destination Unknown and got the win with Toni Storm over Baker and Jamie Hayter. It could lead to Britt Baker’s next feud.
On the latest Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer discussed the surprising end to the tag match. Dave noted that there is likely a reason Britt took the fall in the bout. There should be something down the line between Baker and Ruby Soho.
“Soho getting a pin on Britt, I don’t know. It should lead to something. Another match. Because, to me, Britt Baker should only lose for a good reason and just doing it to do whatever… There’s gotta be a reason for her to take pins.”
Britt Baker has been facing an influx of online hate recently. Baker has addressed subjects like cyberbullying several times over the past few weeks. It seems like whatever she does has been met with negativity, despite still getting great reactions from AEW fans at TV tapings and pay-per-views.
We will have to see how things play out between Britt Baker and Ruby Soho. Eventually, Baker will enter the inevitable breakup storyline with Hayter as well. A program with Ruby could help lead to that eventuality.
