MJF took to the ring to address his grievances with All Elite Wrestling on last night’s Dynamite. Nobody was safe, from the locker room to the fans and even Tony Khan himself. While there has been a lot of speculation about what is real and what isn’t in the storyline, MJF took no prisoners and delivered a fantastic promo that will be remembered for a long time.
After MJF had his mic cut off, the show abruptly cut to commercial. Fans who were at The Forum live got to see an interesting sequence of events play out. New AEW World Champion CM Punk made his way to the ring to confront Friedman about his behavior.
On the latest Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer talked about the unaired segment. Meltzer wondered aloud why AEW didn’t air Punk’s attempt to confront MJF. He speculated that it looks likely to be leading to a title match at September’s All Out pay-per-view.
“The crowd turned with him, he was doing, very similar to, actually, a lot of what Dan Lambert did. Just incredible delivery. And they cut the mic off, like you know, as part of the gimmick. During the commercial break, Punk comes out and chases him and he runs away. I’m not sure why they didn’t put that on television.
They certainly wanted it out. So, it was just interesting that they did that during the break, so maybe the plan is Punk and MJF for All Out. That could be the direction. Good chance it’s the direction.”
MJF and CM Punk recently wrapped up a fantastic feud with a dog collar match that saw Punk finally overcome his rival. Now that Punk is the world champion, there could be money in rekindling the story. That could happen as soon as All Out.
