The Rock comes from pro wrestling royalty and many of his family members have worked for WWE. That being said, not all of them have made their mark in Vince McMahon’s company and one promising star is set to carve out his place in MLW.
Court Bauer, the primary owner of Major League Wrestling officially announced the signing of Lance Anoa’i. A member of the legendary Anoa’i family, Lance Anoa’i is a 3rd generation wrestler who will carry the legacy in MLW.
During an episode of SiriusXM’s Busted Open Radio, Bauer announced Lance Anoa’i signing. For those who don’t know, Lance is Samu’s son, Dawayne Johnson’s cousin, along with Roman Reigns’ cousin.
“We’ve just signed Lance Anoa’i,” Bauer said on SiriusXM’s Busted Open Radio. “Lance is the son of Samu, the cousin of The Rock, cousin of Roman Reigns, and he’s a third-generation wrestler. Grandfather’s Afa Anoa’i, and he’s part of our new era of the Samoan Swat Team with Fatu and Big Juicy.”
Lance Anoa’i previously competed for MLW in March 2018, where he fought MJF, and was defeated, at the Spring Break show. This time, the 30-year-old is officially on the MLW roster. This is ahead of their next event at the Melrose Ballroom.
The Anoa’i family has a rich history in professional wrestling, dating back to the 1960s. Members including “High Chief” Peter Maivia, Rocky Johnson, Afa, and Sika (the Wild Samoans) made a lot of noise in a lot of promotions, including WWE.
To this day, The Anoa’i family’s legacy continues into the 2020s and beyond. Lance Anoa’i MLW signing is a pivotal moment within the family’s profound history. Could Lance make a splash in MLW? Only time will answer this.
