Wardlow has been on a roll for the past few months, largely due to him getting over with fans. For many fans, he has all the tools to succeed in pro wrestling, including the looks, charisma and in-ring skills. Wardlow also addressed comparisons between his storyline and an iconic storyline with Batista.
Wardlow has been feuding with MJF for the past few months. It was a slow burn feud that culminated in him betraying MJF at AEW Revolution. This storyline was compared to Batista’s storyline with Triple H back in 2005, which saw Batista turn on The Game.
While speaking to Shak Wrestling, Wardlow talked about his AEW storyline being similar to Batista’s. Wardlow admitted that AEW did not plan this at all and it happened organically.
“We kind of mirrored it in a way, it was very different but also the same. The crazy thing is this wasn’t my idea, I didn’t have any say-so in this. This just organically happened, my career just seems to be mimicking a little bit of Batista’s,” he said. “Yes, you can compare The Pinnacle to Evolution and can compare myself and Max to Triple H and Batista, it’s really unfolded very similar to how that did and it’s a really special thing because we didn’t plan it that way.”
Wardlow defeated Shawn Spears in a steel cage match on this week’s episode of AEW Dynamite. Wardlow will finally get his hands on MJF at AEW Double Or Nothing on May 29th. We’ll have to see who will come out on top in the match.
